FAQ
Common questions, answered.
Don't see what you're looking for? Call our office and we'll happily walk you through it.
How long does the procedure take?+
The vasectomy itself generally takes 10–12 minutes from start to finish, performed in the comfort of our Tucson clinic.
Will it hurt?+
Local anesthetic is delivered with a needle the size of a hair. After numbing takes effect (immediately), instruments should not be felt. Most patients report mild soreness for a few days.
What about the sperm?+
After vasectomy, the testes continue to produce sperm. The cells naturally disintegrate and are absorbed by the body — the same way it handles other cells daily.
Are there risks?+
Complications are uncommon and generally minor: rare infection (treated with antibiotics), brief bruising, mild pain typically resolving in days. Failure rate is less than 1 in 2,000.
Will the clips set off metal detectors?+
No. The two sterile titanium clips remain permanently in place but are not detected by metal detectors and rarely felt through the skin.
Does insurance cover it?+
We accept most major insurance plans for vasectomy. Depending on your plan you may have a copay. If you don't have coverage, please call our office for cash-pay rates.
